Dear Shalhevet Students and Parents,

 

I hope you are enjoying the start of summer. Although summer is a time for rest, reflection, and fun, our faculty has selected meaningful pieces of literature to be read by the students in preparation for the upcoming school year.

The goal of summer reading is to refine reading skills, which can be lost or reduced over the summer months, and to encourage reading for pleasure.

 

Reading closely and analytically requires practice. In order to maintain our level of excellence, we require all students to participate in summer reading. Additionally, we will be using these texts as a basis for a variety of conversations and learning opportunities at the start of the 2019-2020 school year.

Below, you will find links to download the summer reading books for 2019-2020 English and Shalhevet Advanced Studies (SAS) classes. All students will be assigned reading for their English class. SAS classes are only taken by students in the 11th and 12th grade and are only required if enrolled in the specific SAS course.
